Event System Guide

Between battles, your cats may stumble into random events — short narrative scenes where you make choices. Events are one of the primary ways to score gear, boost stats, recruit familiars, and steer the direction of your run in Mewgenics.

How Events Work

When an event fires, you get a short story scene with 2-3 choices (sometimes up to 6). Only a handful of events have fixed outcomes with no player input.

Every option has a “success” and “failure” path. Which one you land on depends on stat checks.

Stat Checks: Which Stats Matter

Each option specifies a stat and a threshold. If your cat’s stat meets or exceeds the threshold, you get the success outcome. Otherwise, it’s failure.

Which stats should you prioritize? By check frequency:

  • STR and INT — appear in the most options. They’re the two pillars of event success.
  • LCK — third most common, and often gates the best rewards.
  • CON and DEX — moderate frequency.
  • CHA and SPD — less common, but some key events rely exclusively on these.

A few options check Coins (enough gold = guaranteed success) or Quest progress instead of stats.

Practical takeaway: Cats with high STR, INT, and LCK cover the vast majority of event checks. Prioritize these three when raising cats for runs.

What Can Events Give You

Event outcomes can reward you with:

  • Items — Direct drops or pulls from item pools. This is a major source of set pieces in mid-to-late runs.
  • Stat boosts — Permanent stat increases that help your build take shape during the run.
  • Healing — HP restoration for one cat or the whole team. Don’t underestimate this — it can save you a trip back to the cattery.
  • Familiars/Parasites — Some events let you recruit combat companions.
  • Battles — Certain options pull you into bonus fights.
  • Weather changes — Alter current weather, indirectly affecting upcoming combat.

Important: “Failure” outcomes aren’t always bad. Many failures still give items or stat gains, just different (usually weaker) ones compared to success. Sometimes the failure reward is actually better for your current build.

Event Strategy

Don’t guess — check the wiki. Before committing to a choice, look up the event on the Events page. You’ll find that some “good-looking” options actually pay off less than the alternative, depending on what you need.

Coin options are freebies. Coin checks just look at your gold — no RNG. If you can afford it, it’s a guaranteed success.

Think about events when building your team. The cats you deploy need to fight, but they also handle events. An all-STR-no-INT squad will struggle with intelligence checks.

Intentional failure is a strategy. Experienced players sometimes deliberately choose options they’ll fail — because certain “failure” rewards are exactly what they need (e.g., specific stat reductions that trigger mutation conditions).
